Iowa PGA Section

The Iowa PGA Section is 1 of 41 sections that make up the Professional Golfers’ Association of America. The national body consists of over 27,000 members and apprentices. The Iowa PGA Section membership includes over 250 golf professionals employed at 123 facilities.

The Iowa PGA Section is established as an association of qualified golf professionals dedicated to promoting the game by positively impacting lives through golf. In this effort, the Section shall provide education and playing opportunities, perpetuate and preserve employment opportunities for its members, and bring awareness and support to the Iowa PGA Foundation. In doing so, the Section shall elevate the image of its members, the PGA and the game of golf.

The Section is governed by a board of directors comprised of 11 Iowa PGA Section Professionals. The day to day operation of business is conducted by a staff of seven employees at the Section office in Riverside, Iowa.

Monday- Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m

Iowa Section PGA Mission Statement

Iowa PGA Foundation

The Iowa PGA Foundation utilizes the game of golf to positiviely impact lives through chairtable giving with emphasis on scholarships, junior golf, and injured veterans.

The Iowa PGA Foundation received its 501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service in May of 2011.  The Iowa PGA Foundation was formed as a charitable arm of the Iowa PGA Section which is considered a 501(c)6.  The goals of the Foundation involve golf for children, scholarships, support for injured veterans, and junior golf programs.

Swings with Kids

The Iowa PGA Foundation has started implementing the Swings with Kids program that will introduce the game of golf with the direction of Iowa PGA Professionals inside physical education. Students will learn about golf and will also benefit from the numerous life skills that the game of golf offers. These life skills include honesty, integrity, respect, perseverance, and cooperation. Injured Veterans

The IPGA Foundation also supports programs and services that help support our injured veterans. The Iowa PGA Foundation will continue to provide support initiatives such as the GIVE Foundation (Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere) along with other organizations that support injured veterans.

Help GIVE for this non-for-profit organization to provide a structural golf program for injured Iowa veterans.

Burkart Scholarship

The Iowa PGA Foundation annually awards a college scholarship in memory of Charlie Burkart, PGA member for 48 years and head professional at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids for 47 years. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students with their education. The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who will continue contributing to the game of golf.

Junior Golf Programs

The Iowa PGA offers many junior golf programs throughout the year. Juniors can join the Iowa Junior Tour, the Iowa Pee Wee Tour, compete for scholarships, participate in drive, chip & putt contests, and attend the week long Junior Golf Academy held in Cedar Falls, Iowa. There are over 90 tournaments available for Juniors annually.
